An ordinary petition relating to his transfer/posting filed by a police officer and which led to parallel litigation and political chaos was suddenly dismissed as withdrawn by the petitioner. It was during this preliminary hearing of the case that the Supreme Court of Pakistan declared holding of General elections in Punjab and Khyber Pukhtoonkhawa province within 90 days being constitutionally mandatory. The govt continues to defy the verdict raising serious constitutional questions on the judgement. Minutes before disposing off the case Chief Justice also used the occasion to give personal clarification about use of his name in an audio leak going viral on social media.
