The ultimate battle for power between Pakistan’s parliament and the Supreme Court seems to have begun on Thursday when lower house of the parliament rejected a Supreme Court’s order to provide funds for elections in two provinces. A motion for a supplementary grant of Rs 21 billion was rejected by majority in the National Assembly of Pakistan on the day the chief justice of Supreme Court held an emergency hearing by 8 judges to examine a govt bill (yet to become a law) to reduce powers of the office of the chief justice.
