Pakistan’s Supreme Court is fast sinking into a political quicksand with a group of judges led by chief justice Umar Ata Bandiyal ordering for early elections ahead of his retirement few months later. Another group of judges have publicly declared that his decision about early elections is filled with serious legal and constitutional defects arising out of abuse of his administrative powers to select judges for hearing of political cases.
