A group of judges led by Chief Justice Umer Ata Bandiyal of the Supreme Court of Pakistan is desperate to ensure early elections in Pakistan’s largest province on 14th ‘May 2023. The opposition leader Imran Khan too had dissolved his governments in the provinces of Punjab and Khyber Puktunkhawa for early elections. The ruling coalition has however told the Supreme Court that its orders cannot be implemented because elections have to be held across Pakistan in the Center and provinces on the same day in October this year. Another group of justice opposed to the chief justice has accused him of running a one-man show and using his administrative powers to fix political cases in front of his favorite judges.
