Supreme Court has reserved its decision on a petition filed by a citizen seeking the same elections across Pakistan. This is in spite of an earlier apex court verdict that called for elections in the largest Punjab province on 14th May, a week from today. The government and parliament refused to provide funds for the same and the apex court is contemplating a contempt of court proceeding against the government. On the petition for same-day elections, the chief justice had given a few days time to political parties for negotiating a possible date on which elections could be held in all provinces and the center. The decision is expected to be announced today or in a few days time.
