Chief Justice Islamabad High Court Justice Amir Farooq was quick to fix for hearing a plea from former prime minister Imran Khan but then postponed a decision on it until next week. Imran Khan had sought suspension of his criminal trial in a corruption case pending a decision on his objections against the trial court judge. Only a day before the Supreme Court had also asked the high court to decide on the objections raised by Imran Khan first but stopped short of itself suspending the trial proceedings saying the apex court would not interfere with the trial court proceedings and that the high court was the proper forum to seek suspension of trial. Meanwhile, the trial court will resume its proceedings on Monday in Islamabad wherein Imran Khan has to record his statement being an accused in the case which relates to alleged corruption in selling and purchase of gifts from the government treasury.
