The case of ousted judge of Islamabad High Court Shaukat Aziz Siddiqui took a dramatic turn today after apex court allowed the petitioner judge to make former ISI chief Gen Faiz as additional respondent. Telecast live a 5-member apex court bench headed by Chief Justice Faez Isa resumed hearing of petitions filed by Shaukat Siddiqui challenging his removal by judges’ disciplinary council. Siddiqui alleges that back in 2017 the then senior ISI official Gen Faez Hameed visited his home and asked for not giving bail to the Sharifs implicated in corruption cases. When asked by the judges if Gen Faiz had been made a respondent in the case and how could a court even hear such allegations without giving the accused right of reply, Siddiqui’s lawyer Advocate Hamid Khan sought one day time to file an amended petition to make Gen Faiz a respondent. The court hearing adjourned for tomorrow when the apex court is likely to formally issue a notice of appearance to the former ISI chief Gen Faiz.
