The 11 April attack by military soldiers on a local police station was an incident similar to 09 May 2023 attacks on military installations. Group of uniformed soldiers attacked police station in Bahawalnagar city, tortured police personnel and got their two arrested colleagues released by force. Military authorities have announced a joint investigation by police and army as federal and provincial governments timidly remain silent with no clear reaction from Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif and his neice chief minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif. Even the defense minister Khawaja Asif and country’s interior minister Mohsin Naqvi have apparently failed to assert federal government’s constitutional command and control of the two disciplined forces.
