A three judges bench of Islamabad High Court today refused to proceed on a petition against jailed opposition leader Imran Khan by declaring that the petition was not legally maintainable. The petition, apparently a years old proxy move of government, questioned non-disclosure of Imran Khan’s alleged love child Tyrian White in his election nomination document. Today’s three judges bench declared that two judges of another three member bench had already declared the petition as non-maintainable and hence there was no need to proceed afresh in the matter. Chief Justice Amir Farooq who headed the earlier bench didn’t agree with his fellow two judges on the issue and had announced to reconstitute this new bench. Today’s verdict rejects the position taken by the chief justice of Islamabad High Court.
