Top 13 judges today started hearing appeals by ally of jailed former prime minister Imran Khan seeking special quota of women seats in parliament earlier denied by election commission. The election commission and Peshawar High Court had earlier denied Khan’s Pakistan Tehrik e Insaf (PTI) about 22 women and minority seats in lower house of parliament – National Assembly owing to legal objections. The judges spoke their mind one by one on the issue and indicated that PTI could even get women seats as a constitutional right being a political party even as it’s candidates were not allowed to contest elections on one election’s symbol. #MJtv gives details of today’s proceedings in the court and actual meaning of the judges remarks and legal arguments made.
