Three major unfolding events are pointing to impending constitutional breakdown in Pakistan. The Supreme Court 3 judges committee has reportedly thwarted an attempt by Chief Justice to urgently constitute a 13 judges full court bench for reconsidering its short order in special seats case dissented to by chief justice Qazi Faez Isa. On the other side Election Commission of Pakistan too has reportedly expressed its inability to implement supreme court’s short order in the case pending detailed verdict. And most alarming development is the statement of defense minister Khawaja Asif that there is a likelihood of a constitutional breakdown in the country.
