The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has challenged a Supreme Court verdict which gave women and minority seats to Pakistan Tehrik e Insaf (PTI) of jailed prime minister Imran Khan. The commission has filed a review petition against the 12 July verdict which declared that ECP’s decision of declaring over 80 PTI MNAs and many other MPAs as independent candidates was unconstitutional. The government in an emergency legislation tried to undo the court’s verdict which too was challenged by the PTI through a petition today.
