A Supreme Court bench headed by Chief Justice Qazi Faez Isa today gave three more parliamentary votes to the ruling Pakistan Muslim League (Nawaz) amid allegations that the top judge was desperate for getting job extension through a constitutional amendment. By a majority of 2 to 1 with Justice Aqeel Abbasi dissenting the bench set aside a Lahore High Court judgement that had restored victory of the three MNA’s of opposition Pakistan Tehrik e Insaf (PTI) in 08 Feb elections declaring the recounting of votes by the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP). The judgement is being seen as yet another big relief to the ruling PMLN in the series of such decisions by the chief justice against PTI and in favour of the ruling PMlN.
