In an interesting development Islamabad High Court has directed the government to formally explain if it wanted military trial of jailed former prime minister Imran Khan. Justice Miangul Hassan Aurangzeb directed the Attorney General office to seek instructions from the government on a writ petition filed by Imran Khan. In his petition Khan sought a court injunction against his possible handing over to military authorities for a court martial. The petition came after flurry of statements by govt ministers that Imran Khan was in communication with former ISI chief Gen Faiz Hameed on May 09, 2023 mob attacks on military installations to protest against arrest of Imran Khan that same day. Gen Faiz has been recently arrested by military authorities who have announced that he will be facing court-martial proceedings for violation of Army Act through his post retirement conduct.
