As thousands of people gathered outside the Supreme Court of Pakistan to demand resignation of the Chief Justice the court adjourns hearing of a challenge to its controversial order. The apex court had rejected a government’s plea and ordered for elections in the country’s largest Punjab province on 14th May. As the government blocked funds for the elections the court was expected to initiate criminal proceedings against the prime minister Shahbaz Sharif today but a rally outside the apex court apparently pressurized the judges enough to do so. The rally is in progress and the hearing has been put off till after 8 days.
