Amid an ongoing standoff between govt and judiciary in Pakistan country’s chief justice Umer Atta Bandiyal told attorney general in open court that the govt should provide details of missing journalists, kidnapping of lawyers and detention of over 4000 women and children in the country. Heading a 7 judges bench the chief justice made these remarks a day after the government issued a premature notification about country’s next chief justice who is to assume office about three months from now. The chief justice and his six fellow judges are hearing constitutional petitions against military trial of civilians who were accused of attacking military installations while protesting against arrest of former prime minister Imran Khan on corruption charges.
