The Islamabad High Court today acquitted former prime minister Nawaz Nawaz Sharif in last of the three corruption cases paving way for him to contest the Feb 08 general elections next year. Sharif’s conviction and a life time ban on politics imposed by Supreme Court followed a controversial and convoluted judicial process triggered by Panama papers leak. The apex court back in 2017 disqualified Nawaz Sharif directly without trial in one case and sent three cases for trial before lower courts. In two of the three cases he was convicted and sentenced to jail for 10 years but today Islamabad High Court acquitted him in the last case leaving a huge question mark on the role of powerful military establishment under General Bajwa and his ISI chief Gen Faiz in colluding and conspiring to remove Nawaz Sharif through judicial and political engineering.

The video was placed before the High Court but the judges declared that they will hear and decide the matter on legal grounds only and apparently they did so by acquitting Nawaz Sharif.
