Weeks before the 2018 elections former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif was jailed for ten years on charges of corruption and his party cornered through what is now known as judicial-political engineering. This time Nawaz Sharif seems to be riding on an orchestrated wave of popularity to return to power while his biggest rival former prime minister Imran Khan has been jailed for 10 years in a case of violation of official secrecy laws only a week before the scheduled general elections.
